John Bowman of Acme Cycle has taken care of both my Harley's for some years
now. What I love about John is that when I pick up one of my bikes from
him I know that they are 100% safe and ready for the road. John never
takes short cuts and his attention to detail is incredible. I appreciate
the fact that John's number one priority while servicing my bikes is my
safety and I trust him completely.
Thanks John!

I started dealing with John Bowman (and later, Mary) in 1991 when he was the service manager at the now defunct Glendale Harley-Davidson dealership formerly located on Grand Avenue. From that point, service, and advice, was exceptional, and still is. At that time, I started finding out that there ARE people in this world that will do what they say, and say what they do. After Glendale H-D changed owners, John left to form ACME Cycle. He took a lot of business with him, and still has a lot of us older die-hards with him as well as some newer folks. His work has been the best, he stands behind EVERYTHING he does, and if it doesn’t do what he says it will, he’ll make it so. I’ll give you an example: I put a buttload of miles on a ’91 Fatboy, and I decided I wanted a beefier engine. We decided on a particular engine that ended up being less than what we had hoped for. Apparently, the rat-bastard that assembled this engine doesn’t have the same morals as John. To wit, the goofy asshole is out of business. But I digress…anyway, John eased up on what he could have charged me for an entire engine rebuild, he went after the engine manufacturer for new cases, re-assembled, re-balanced, and re-installed the engine and I’m happy as a clam, because I have a big displacement engine (114”) that runs like a bat out of hell, doesn’t vibrate, and gets better gas mileage than my ’08 FLH. Which John also serviced when I was still in Arizona. So that should tell you something else: John can work on Twin Cams as well, and does as well with them as he does Evo’s, Pans, and Shovels. He put S&S gear driven cams, a Tek-lusion (sp?) box, & some Thunderheaders on the damn thing and it runs like a 96” ought to run. But because it’s stock, it vibrates way more than the Delkron Engine he built for me. Sorry, Harley….
Okay, now that you know that John does good work, check out his prices. He’ll give you a better rate than any of the dealers on the 5k and 10k services, and if you need to get work done on your old Evo engine, he’s the guy to go to. Hell, I called him from Tennessee the other day, and he fixed my problem over the phone. Still charged me, but a guy’s gotta make a livin’…
If you don’t believe this written stuff, e-mail me at rptedford@gmail.com, and I’ll give you grief on a personal basis. It’s what I do best. Now go ride and quit yer bitchin.

John always shows a great deal of patience is solving difficult mechanical problems. If it is not right, be sure John will stand behind his work. Small shops with the right owners leads to quality work, fair prices, and personal knowledge of your bike. If you are a biker; The ACME Garage needs to be a part of your family.
